Are You Shopping for Yourself or Buying a Gift?
Some of you may be searching for something to put in (or on) your truck, but we also realize that some of you would probably be gift shopping for the truck owner of the family: a birthday, Father’s Day or some other special occasion.
If that’s the case, you could always consider getting something custom for the particular year, make and model of the truck that the person has.
- Truck Bed Liner – It wasn’t exactly the type of item we could include in our table since everyone has a different make and model, but is still a great idea worth mentioning.
The more affordable alternative to a custom bed liner is the DIY liner kit like this one from Herculiner. It acts as a protective coating that you roll on with a sponge paintbrush and works pretty well!
- Mud Flaps or Floor Mats – This is an opportunity for you to get something with a favorite sports team or brand logo printed on it.
Got a Chevy? Check out these Floor Mats from Plasticolor.
Die-hard Cowboys fan? Then these Floor Mats would be perfect.
Alternatively, you can have some fun with these Yosemite Sam mud flaps.
How Do You Use the Truck?
We realize that the loading ramp would be useless if you don’t use ATVs, haul lawn mowers around or head to the fields with your Motocross bikes every weekend, so make sure you choose something you will use.
- Hauling Oversized Loads – If you use your truck for business purposes (you haul construction supplies, wood, or carry loads that will extend beyond the end of the tailgate), then a bed extender is a solid investment.
The one we included in our table (number 9) not only extends horizontally but also vertically, allowing you to adapt it to support a wide range of loads.
- Hunting or Outdoor Adventures – Skiing, hunting in the rain, hiking or biking can all leave you wet and dirty by the time you get back to your truck, so one of the best truck accessories you can invest in is a seat cover.
We’ll be taking a look at one in our top five below, so be sure to check it out below.
- With Pets – Dogs are just like family, but their fur is quite a nuisance in the truck cabin!
If your pooch joins you often on your four-wheel drive adventures, be sure to get a seat cover like number 6 in our table.
Not only will it help trap the pet hair, but it will also prevent your dog from flying to the floor in case you have to break suddenly.
Top 5 Best Truck Accessories Reviews
Some of the absolute best truck accessories that you can own are some decent tie down straps and tow hooks. We figured we’d group them together since they go hand in hand.
We’ll start with the straps: they’re made with industrial strength webbing that has a 500-pound load capacity, and you get four straps with the ratchets. When you have to tie down a wide load, one or two straps isn’t going to cut it.
We like that the hooks are rubberized, so they don’t scrape delicate surfaces and that the straps are long (15 feet each) and pretty much every other person who tries these feels the same way. These are simply a must-have item in your truck!
Next, the tow hooks: Vault Cargo calls them D-ring Shackles, which is just a fancier name for tow hooks. They’re tougher than nails (made of drop forged steel), and the powder coated finish will help prevent this material from rusting.
Next time you pass by that poor soul stuck in the mud (or a snow bank), stop and tow them out with the help of these handy hooks!
There are so many times when a seat cover like this would come in handy, yet you have never invested in one! Now is the time to do so.
This seat cover is made of Neoprene, and the sizing is designed to fit over any car seat. All you need to do is hook the top piece over your headrest and lay it against the seat. Done!
Say you head to the local water hole, or you get caught in a rainstorm while you’re hiking; perhaps you were out hunting in the rain, or you are dripping sweat after a rigorous jog; the point is that you’re wet!
That’s not a problem when you have the Eclipse draped over your seat: Neoprene is the same material they use for wetsuits, and since this seat “suit” can be washed in the machine, we absolutely love it. You will, too!
If you haven’t yet added a winch to your truck, then you’re in luck because this is an excellent product that won’t break the bank.
There are many situations where a winch comes in handy (we can think of some muddy ones), and for many truck owners, adding one is like taking a step up in the accessory world.
The Terra 35 has a 3,500-pound weight capacity, a speed of 19fpm, 50 feet of 3/16” wire cable and a 3”x4.87” mounting bolt pattern.
We’ve seen people use this to get an ATV out of a soupy sand bog or muddy mess as well as those who need to thin out some tree patches and haul the logs out.
There are also different models available, so if the Terra 35 isn’t strong enough for you, up the ante by opting for the Terra 45.
The HitchMate is very handy, and probably something that not all of you may have considered when you set out looking for truck accessories.
You know when you have just a few items in the truck bed and no way to prevent them from flying up and down the length of the bed as you drive around: this solves that problem for you.
This bar not only runs the width of your truck bed but it also has an arm that you can use to help secure smaller items into a corner. It’s like a baby gate for the contents of your truck bed: minus the baby.
Fast forward to 1:15, and you will see how to use it in this video.
It is available in two different sizes: one for compact trucks (this one) and one for full-size trucks, which means there is something for everyone.
Our final suggestion is something that not all of you will need, but if you plan to haul small machinery or small vehicles, then it is necessary.
Titan’s 7.5-foot ramps are made of sturdy, yet lightweight aluminum. That means you won’t have to break your back setting them up (it weighs 33 pounds) and that they can still hold weight (the capacity is 1,500 pounds).
We liked that they arched the ramps to offer you better clearance when you’re loading and when opened, they’re a full 90 inches in length. They’re half that length when folded, so you can easily store them in your truck bed.
Whether you’re moving a golf cart, an ATV, a mobility scooter or if you have a lawn mowing business, you won’t get very far without a ramp like this.
Any complaints about the product seem to be promptly taken care of by the company’s customer service, which is also a good selling point.
It’s a great ramp!
Our final suggestion for you is to be sure that you opt for something that will actually be useful to the way you use your truck.
Keep in mind that a toolbox also functions as a locking storage box for items that you’d like to keep on hand at all times.
If you already have some of the larger products we featured, check out some of the smaller ones such as the Nulaxy Wireless In-Car Bluetooth FM Transmitter so you can listen to the music on your MP3 player or phone on the truck stereo system.
From floor mats to tailgate ladder, we have something for everyone on our list of the top truck accessories!
